What is Amendment 84?
Amendment 84 is a proposed amendment to the Colorado Constitution. If approved, a voter signing a mail ballot would also include the last four digits of a government-issued identification number on the reply envelope. It adds that check on top of the current signature verification. Because it amends the constitution, it requires 55 percent of the vote to pass, not a simple majority.

The measure would amend the state constitution to change how Colorado verifies mail ballots. The identification number is one of a small set of accepted forms; it is not a photo ID and it does not end mail voting or change in-person voting.
What to keep in mind
This describes the measure as it appeared on the November 3, 2026 ballot. Approval would add the identification requirement; the detailed correction and counting rules are set out in the filed constitutional text and explained on the verification questions.
